Previous Experience
Prior to this research position, I spent the previous three and a half years working as a Health Information Analyst at the Institute of Environmental Science and Research (ESR) in the Population and Environmental Health team. During this time I was primarily involved in public health surveillance activities including monitoring and identifying trends in notifiable disease cases and publishing findings for the Ministry of Health and the New Zealand Food Safety Authority. I also worked closely with Public Health Unit staff regarding data quality in EpiSurv (the national notifiable disease surveillance database) and was the Project Leader for the Chemical Injuries Surveillance System.

Health geography, environmental health, notifiable disease surveillance, inequalities in health
Current research projects
In collaboration with staff from the Geography Department at the University of Canterbury and members of the Centre for Public Health Research at Massey University, I am working on a Ministry of Health funded project on Environmental Health Indicators for New Zealand.
