Qualifications

  • B.A. (Hons, University of North Texas), M.Sc (Western Washington University),

  • MPH (University of Washington), Ph.D. (University of Washington)

Previous Experience

Prior to this research post, I worked for local government agencies in public health and natural resource planning. Specifically, I conducted epidemiologic interviews in suspected cases of food-borne illness, conducted community education events, and researched soil erosion prevention techniques to protect the area’s drinking water source from the effects of residential development. My research experience includes environmental exposures related to Buruli ulcer in Ghana, evaluation of point-of-use drinking water treatment interventions in India, built environment characteristics of neighbourhoods and the relationship between neighbourhood ‘walkability’ and cardiovascular health, the relationship between air pollutants and cardiovascular health, and economic development, vulnerability and health in Ugandan pastoralist communities.

Research Interests

My research is focused on health geography, inequality, resilience, material and social conditions.
